1) Who controls your data?

2) What we collect

From our website (ebookcrafter.com)

• Contact & account data: name, email, business name (if you create an account or contact us).
• Purchase data: plan, site count, billing address (processed by Freemius), and transaction metadata.
• Technical data: IP address, device/browser info, pages visited, timestamps (server logs for security and basic analytics).

From the plugin (inside your WordPress site)

• License & diagnostics: site URL, WordPress version, PHP version, Plugin version, license key status, anonymous error logs or usage events needed to activate, validate, and support your license (some of this is facilitated by Freemius).
• Content processing: when you export an eBook, the Plugin reads your posts/pages to render a PDF using Dompdf within your environment. We do not copy or permanently store your content on our servers.

We do not intentionally collect special‑category data (e.g., health, political opinions) or children’s data.

3) Why we collect it (lawful bases)

• Provide the Service (contract): licensing, updates, support, PDF generation.
• Communicate with you (contract/legitimate interests): onboarding, product updates, renewal reminders, important notices. You can opt out of non‑essential emails.
• Improve & secure (legitimate interests): troubleshooting, error logs, preventing abuse/security incidents.
• Legal compliance: taxes, accounting, fraud prevention.

4) Cookies & similar technologies

We aim to keep cookies simple and minimal.

• Essential cookies (required): set by our site and/or Freemius to keep you logged in, remember your cart/checkout, and protect against fraud. These run without consent because the site would not work without them.
• Preference cookies (optional): remember choices (e.g., language).
• Analytics cookies (optional, currently off by default): if/when enabled, we will update this policy and our cookie banner to request consent in regions that require it (EU/EEA/UK).

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above: account/billing records per tax/accounting laws; support emails and logs for a reasonable period; license/diagnostics for the life of your account plus a short archival period.

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. You are responsible for securing your WordPress site, choosing strong passwords, and maintaining backups.

10) Children

Our site and Plugin are not directed to children. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data so we can delete it.

11) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date and, when appropriate, may provide a notice on the site or via email.
